So who am I and why should you read this? A daunting question indeed! Being that I loathe being in the limelight, answering these types of questions is anxiety inducing. So I’ll start with the nitty gritty, my qualifications.
I am an HPCSA registered Psychologist offering a warm and down to earth relational experience. I have a passion for helping people through the context of a solid and genuine therapeutic relationship. Mental wellness is best approached together, with an emphasis on the present and the future, always keeping a client’s hopes and dreams at the forefront of the work we do together. Ultimately the aim is to enhance a client’s understanding of the barriers that are keeping them from achieving their goals.
I work with adolescents and adults in managing major life challenges and transitions. I offer culturally-sensitive therapeutic processes for clients on an individual and group basis as well as working with couples. I work eclectically, drawing from a wide range of trusted therapeutic modalities to inform my model of practice. The scope of my practice addresses a wide range of emotional conditions and challenging life circumstances including:
- Mood Disorders
- Anxiety
- Substance Use
- Medical illness
- Loss and Grief
- Job-related Stress
- LGBTQIA+
- Trauma and PTSD
- Marital and Pre-marital Counselling
- Career Counselling / Guidance and Assessment
- Gender Identity and Coming Out Process
Psychotherapy should be a safe place where clients do not feel judged. Sometimes it will be hard to face oneself in therapy. Other times it can be incredibly uplifting and liberating. No two people are the same and no two experiences of the same event are the same. Be kind to yourself, we’ll go at your pace….
